And for the next prize ...

A new car!

Just call it another piece of the master plan ... Kates finished her masters work last month, thus freeing up some extra cash. And her beater of an Oldsmobile was riding on its last wheels; its license renewal (not to mention a costly emission test) was up in February ... And we wanted more room for the baby.

It's something we'd been discussing for awhile, and this past week we put it into high gear ...

Kates' dream car has long been the Subaru Forrester. And like a good teacher, she did all the research ... The thing is fit with an airplane engine, it's got lots of cargo space, efficient gas mileage, the highest safety ratings and a roomy interior. Plus it looks darn good and it was affordable ...

It has all the things that were important to us. Between everything we read and heard, we figured we couldn't go wrong ... And there was one waiting for us in town ...

A 2007 model. Silver in color. A former rental car with 28,000 miles on it and hardly a look of use ...

We test drove it, fell in love with it immediately and were signing the papers before the engine had cooled. The whole process was too smooth to be true ...

So for now. Until April, at least. Here's a couple pictures of our new baby ...

Oh yeah, and we bought a new dishwasher this morning to replace the dishwasher that quit on us a couple years ago. And to save my back. Again, all part of the master plan ...
